HOW TO: Crochet the Berry Stitch

– a step-by-step picture & video guide

Berry stitch

Today I’m sharing a lovely  crochet stitch with you – “The Berry Stitch”. This stitch contains a few basic stitches as well as a few more complex steps. You’ll need to know slip stitchessingle crochet stitches & the rest will be explained as you go.

If you have bought one of my patterns, you might wonder how it is done. The pattern always offers written text in addition to charts, but now I will share a step by step picture guide with you. In addition there is a video of how to crochet this stitch on the bottom.

Today I suggest that you learn the stitch & then you should use it in a project! You can make you own project, but on the bottom of this post I have also included all my crochet patterns that are using “The Berry Stitch”!

Berry Stitch – the STEP-BY-STEP picture guide:

1. How to start

Berry 1 400

For the purpose of this tutorial I’m suggesting that you chain a number of stitches that are divisible by 4. You can choose to start this stitch with either number 2 of this picture instruction or do 3-16 (The Berry part) & then 2.  When you’re crocheting a pattern this should be specified.

Each row starts with ch 1 & ends with sl st one for this tutorial.
Crochet patterns might have other instructions.

For this stitch, all stitches are made in the back loop (BLO) of the stithces.

2. Slip stitch 4 stitches

Berry 2 400

Slip stitch 4 stitches.
(Crochet in 3rd ch from hook, leaving the 2 turning chains’s as chain’s for row 1 & 2).

Made in the back loop (BLO).

3. Single crochet

Row 2: Ch 1, sl st in all st from previous row.

Row 3: Make berry, slip stitch 4 stitches.
